What do I need to replace my old appliance?
Record the complete model number from the rating plate, including any suffix such as /01. Add cabinet measurements and photos of the door attachment. The model family starts the search; it does not confirm every service variant or your actual kitchen installation.
Should I measure the fridge or the cabinet opening?
Compare the clear internal height, internal width and usable depth of the cabinet opening. Appliance dimensions are different. Record obstructions and ventilation paths separately; the chosen model’s installation drawing determines the space required.

Do 1775 and 1780 mm automatically fit the same opening?
No. The 178 cm category does not approve every cabinet height. The Bosch KIR81AF30 sheet lists a 1772 mm appliance height and a 1775 mm niche height. For another appliance, check its own permitted installation range instead of rounding up by five millimetres.

How do I recognise fixed and sliding door fittings?
With a sliding fitting, the furniture door has its own hinges on the cabinet; a sliding rail connects it to the appliance door. With a fixed fitting, the furniture front is attached directly to the appliance door and carried by its hinges. Open the door and compare the visible attachments with the manual.

Can I keep my furniture front when replacing the fridge?
Possibly, subject to checks. Compare the cabinet, front dimensions and new installation drawing. AEG describes changing from sliding to fixed fittings with attachment changes; a fridge-freezer also needs a matching lower front. This is not a blanket approval for every cabinet or manufacturer.

Must the new appliance have exactly the same external dimensions?
What matters is whether your measured cabinet fits the new appliance’s documented installation range. Identical external dimensions alone are not enough: door fitting, front attachment, door split, ventilation and opening clearance must also work. A catalogue match remains a shortlist until these checks are complete.
Is a smaller appliance automatically suitable?
No. Spare space does not guarantee correct fixing or ventilation. Check the permitted cabinet dimensions and specified mounting. Added panels or plinths must not obstruct airflow; plan cabinet alterations using the appliance’s installation instructions.
Is a recommendation my model’s official successor?
No. FridgeFit compares documented technical characteristics. A match does not establish official successor status or confirmed availability. Open the manufacturer source and check the complete variant and installation drawing before ordering from a retailer.
